2021

Areas unveils its new sustainability plan.

2020

Areas readjusts to continue succeeding throughout the global pandemic and acquires Autogrill Spain.

2019

Areas enters new stage of growth with the support of new shareholders PAI Partners.

2015-2016

Areas becomes the global concessions brand of Elior Group, global #3 in travel catering. In July 2015, Elior Group increases its stake in Areas to 100%, reinforcing its position as a global player.

2010-2014

Areas strengthens its position in the US, winning contracts in Los Angeles and Chicago, and launching service plazas along I-95 through Maryland.

2006-2010

Areas reinforces its European presence and penetration of the US market, entering the airport catering market via the Miami Airport catering concession. At the same time, Elior acquires a controlling interest in MyChef thus strengthening its position in the Italian market.

2001-2006

Areas and Elior Group enter into a strategic alliance. During the same period, Elior Group strengthens its presence in the German highway market.

1990-2001

Elior launches its concessions catering activity in France, strengthening its position in the market via the purchase of an interest in Elitair and the acquisition of HRC.

1968-1990

Concession catering markets launch in Spain and France. Areas and Jacques Borel open their first motorway restaurants and progressively grow their geographical reach and the scope of their business activities.

EARLY 20TH CENTURY

Travel catering begins with the development of railways stations. Travel catering first appeared at the beginning of the 20th century with the development of the railway as a means of transportation, with sleeping-car facilities and railway-station buffets.
