Since its founding in 1968 at a small service area in Maresme, Areas has evolved into a global operator with a presence in 11 countries and a team of over 20,000 employees.
Expansion in the United States, a strategic market
The United States has become a key driver of Areas’ growth, accounting for 15% of its global revenue. In 2023, the company secured major contracts, including the management of six new establishments at Orlando International Airport and 10 new foodservice locations at William P. Hobby Airport in Houston. Additionally, Areas was awarded the foodservice management contract at Atlanta International Airport and expanded its highway service network with new locations in West Virginia. Looking ahead, the company plans to strengthen its presence with the opening of new establishments at San Diego Airport by the end of 2025.
Strong presence in Europe and Latin America
In Europe, Areas has won significant contracts, including the major foodservice tender at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport and exclusive management of foodservice at IFEMA Madrid. In France, the company has strengthened its footprint with the acquisition of Sighor’s highway foodservice operations, while in Germany, it has expanded its presence by managing the Dresden train station.
In Latin America, Areas has recently expanded its operations with the addition of Guadalajara Airport in Mexico, further consolidating its market position.
