Additionally, the company operates in Miami International Airport, Orlando International Airport, and the Florida Turnpike, solidifying its leadership in one of the country’s largest states.
The United States: A strategic market for Areas
Areas has been present in the United States since 2006 and, with this new contract, will manage over 150 points of sale in the country for the first time. These locations are spread across 10 airports and 13 highway service areas, including the latest openings in Houston Hobby Airport, further strengthening its position as one of the leading operators in the U.S. market.
The company has earmarked the U.S. market as a strategic country for its future growth and international expansion. Today it counts for around 15% of Areas’ global revenues, its third market behind France and Iberia (Spain and Portugal). Areas started working in the US more than 15 years ago at Miami International Airport. Today it has establishments in the following airports: William P. Hobby (Houston), Los Angeles International, Minneapolis-St. Paul International, Miami International, Chicago O’Hare International, Newark Liberty International, Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International, Orlando International and Detroit Metro Airport with San Diego Airport opening in late 2025. The company also manages service areas along the highways and turnpikes of Florida, Maryland and West Virginia.
According to Oscar Vela, Areas’ CEO, “the Orlando tender demonstrates our intention to continue driving our international business and reaffirms the company’s investment in the American market, one of the key markets for the industry’s growth and the company’s priority objective over the coming years”.
