Barcelona, October 1, 2026.

Areas, a global leader in food & beverage and travel retail, has been awarded the management of 14 new outlets following Aena’s tender to renew the food & beverage offering at these airports: seven outlets at Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport, Spain’s fourth-busiest airport; six at Gran Canaria Airport; and one at Valencia Airport.

With these new contracts, Areas consolidates its position as the leading food & beverage operator at Málaga Airport, significantly strengthens its presence at Gran Canaria Airport and adds a new outlet at Valencia Airport. Overall, the new concessions, which have a duration of between eight and ten years, represent 42% of all outlets included in the tender and 52% of its total economic value.

The new outlets are expected to generate total revenues of close to €900 million over the concession period and will involve an investment of €7.8 million to fully transform the spaces and introduce a completely renewed food & beverage offering. The project will provide employment for more than 400 people, who will join the operations of the new outlets during the concession period.

This result reinforces Areas’ growth strategy in Spain and builds on the company’s recent milestones in the airport sector. Having recently completed the full renewal of its food & beverage offering at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport with the opening of 35 outlets, and having been awarded the major tender at Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport earlier this year, the company further consolidates its leadership across Spain’s major airports.

The new outlets began opening progressively throughout September, offering millions of travelers a renewed and innovative food & beverage experience adapted to evolving consumer trends.

Areas’ food & beverage offering combines a broad range of concepts encompassing proprietary, local, national and international brands, with the aim of delivering a distinctive experience at each airport. Among the main new additions is StrEAT, one of Areas’ most innovative proprietary concepts, inspired by street food markets and designed to offer travelers a modern, dynamic and high-quality dining experience. The proprietary brand portfolio also includes Farine, specializing in coffee & bakery; Buena Pinta, a beer and tapas concept; and COMO, an urban-style restaurant.

The project also focuses on enhancing the local character of each destination through the incorporation of well-known local brands such as Casa Lola and Brunchit at Málaga Airport, bringing the destination’s culinary identity directly to travelers at the airport.

The offering is complemented by some of the leading national food & beverage brands, including Santagloria, Volapié, VIPS, Barra de Pintxos, Chalito and MUNS, alongside internationally renowned brands such as Subway, PAUL Le Café, UDON and Rossopomodoro, creating a varied and dynamic offering tailored to all traveler profiles.

Óscar Vela, CEO of Areas, said: “This award marks another milestone in Areas’ growth strategy and reinforces our leadership in one of our most important markets. We continue to strengthen our position as a leading operator both in Spain and internationally.”

Sergio Rodríguez, CEO of Areas Iberia, added: “This result demonstrates our commitment to continuously enhancing the traveler experience through offerings that combine quality, innovation and the right balance of concepts tailored to travelers’ needs. It also reflects our ambition to help turn the airports where we operate into showcases for the best of each city’s food & beverage scene, bringing the identity and personality of each destination to travelers.”

With this new milestone, Areas, whose global headquarters are in Barcelona, continues to advance its growth and consolidation roadmap, strengthening its position as one of the world’s leading operators in travel food & beverage.
