2015-2016
Areas becomes the global concession brand of Elior Group; global n° 3 in travel catering.
In July 2015, Elior Group increased its stake in Areas to 100%, thus reinforcing its position as a global concession catering player.
2010-2014
Areas strengthens its position in the USA, from contract wins in Los Angeles and Chicago to the launch of service plazas on the I-95 through Maryland.
2006-2010
Reinforcement of European presence and penetration of US market.
Entry on the airport catering market, via the Miami Airport catering concession. At the same time, Elior acquires a controlling interest in MyChef thus strengthening its position in the Italian market
2001-2006
Elior Group enters into a strategic alliance with Areas.
During the same period, Elior Group gains footholds in the German motorway market.
1990-2001
Elior creates its concession catering activity in France.
Elior strengthens its position on the French concession market via the purchase of an interest in Elitair and the acquisition of HRC.
1968-1990
Concession catering markets launched in Spain and France.
Areas and Jacques Borel open their first motorway restaurants and progressively extend their geographical reach and scope of business activities.

EARLY 20TH CENTURY
Travel catering begins with the development of railways stations.
Travel catering first appeared at the beginning of the 20th century with the development of the railway as a means of transportation with sleeping-car facilities, and particularly with the renowned railway-station buffets.
